Marketing
Redesigning paid, social and lead generation so that they lead to business results.
I redesign paid, social and lead generation so that they lead to business results rather than lead counts. Having seen it from four positions — agency, media platform, SaaS sales and sales management — I treat everything from program design to the hand-off to sales as one flow.
When this helps
- You get leads, but they do not turn into deals
- An agency runs your ads and you cannot tell whether the results are good
- You run social media but cannot see how it connects to the business
- Sales and marketing work to separate KPIs and blame each other
What I do
- 01
Defining success and the hand-off
Decide with sales which leads are passed on as opportunities, and move marketing's evaluation toward deals and revenue.
- 02
Channels and budget allocation
Review channel choice, budget allocation and reporting, and narrow down the numbers to watch each week.
- 03
Working with agencies and partners
Give agencies a story to success, not just a target number, and set up the CPA / CVR / CTR conversation.
- 04
Programs tied to sales
Referral programs, co-hosted partner events, trade shows and one-pagers that drive sales outcomes.
Related track record
- 3,000万円Ran a campaign across eight media
Digital ad agency (first job). 231M impressions (102% of target) and 917K clicks (126%)
- 200社Advertisers managed
Twitter Japan. Grew a fashion e-commerce client's monthly spend from the hundreds of thousands of yen to around ¥10M
- Lead generation through co-hosted events
Flywheel Digital Japan. The most cost-effective channel I have seen
- Led cross-department lead generation
Uber Eats Japan. Planned and drove referral programs and ads-driven lead generation across teams
What stays with your company
- A definition of a qualified lead
Sales and marketing look at leads against the same criteria.
- Metrics to judge outside partners
You can assess agency and production proposals against business numbers.
- Sales and marketing look at the same numbers
Programs are judged on deals and revenue, not lead volume.
Ways to work together
- Contract
I take on execution as a fractional COO/CMO or head of business development. Scope and commitment are designed around the work and the fee.
- Advisory
Regular sessions to review where things stand and decide the next moves and priorities together. Your team does the execution.
- One-off (speaking, media, writing, spot consultation)
A single engagement. If the topic and date are set, I can usually take it on right away.
- Angel investment
For seed to pre-Series A startups: a small investment combined with hands-on business development and go-to-market support. See INVESTING below.
How it works
- Share your situation through the form: the challenge, the timing, and the kind of engagement you have in mind
- An online call, where I tell you frankly what I can and cannot help with
- I send a proposal covering scope, duration and fee
- Once we agree, we start
FAQ
Can I ask for marketing only, or for part of it?
Should I choose advisory or a contract?
Tell me about your situation.
I take on this work alongside my full-time role, so the number of engagements I can run at once is limited. Start by telling me about your situation.
